“2014 Clairton Bears” on Display

The "2014 Clairton Bears" 12x16 watercolor print will be on display at the Clairton Public Library during the Friends of the Library Annual Art Show. The show runs Thursday, April 16 to Saturday, April 18 and prints can be ordered / purchased during the art show for $20. The original painting was done on 20" x 24" 140lb watercolor paper. and hangs in the halls of Clairton High School.

The piece was painted exclusively for the 2014-15 Clairton Bears Football team as a way to say "Thank you for your dedication and inspiration." And to the citizens of Clairton, PA and who always come together as a whole to cheer on their beloved football team. Inspired by the passion and drive of past and current football teams, Ms. Ludwig would work on the painting while listening to the football games over the internet in her home in Virginia Beach, VA. As an alumn, class of 1985, artist Kimberly (Hrezo) Ludwig, is certainly a fan, as she never missed a game during high school. Attending the games with her father, Paul Hrezo, who still goes to cheer on the Bears. In 1982, Kim supported the team as the Clairton High School mascot.

About the Artist

Born and raised in Clairton, Art was Kimberly’s favorite subject. By middle school she wanted to be an artist and her mentor and art teacher, Thomas Capone, suggested looking into the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where she earned an Associates degree. After graduating art school Kim moved to Virginia to persue a career in graphic design. She returned to school and holds two Associates degrees, the second in Mulitmedia Design and a Bachelors in Project Management. In 2014 Kimberly returned to her home town of Clairton.

Kim works in pencil, watercolor, and acrylic paint and paints individual and animal portraits. Kimberly’s goal is to paint more prolificly and begin to show her work in art shows and galleries.
